Matheus
Rocha nasceu
em Salvador, Bahia, em 1979. Realizou seus estudos superiores na
Universidade
Federal da Bahia, no curso de Produção em
Comunicação e Cultura. Em 2001,
ingressou na Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV
(EICTV)
de San Antonio
de los Baños, Cuba, onde se graduou em 2003 na especialidade
de Direção de
Fotografia. Em 2004, fez parte do programa de intercâmbio da Fachhochschule
Dortmund, escola
alemã que possui um curso de
cinema unicamente voltado para a Direção de
Fotografia. Na Alemanha,
co-fotografou o longa-metragem “Fünf
Zimmer” e participou como fotógrafo
convidado no Talent Movie of the Week, programa integrante do Talent
Campus
do
Festival de Berlim, sob a orientação do cineasta
Walter
Salles.
Desde 2005 reside em São Paulo, onde trabalha como diretor
de fotografia. Em
2007, fotografou o curta-metragem “Um
Ramo”, que
recebeu o Prêmio Découverte
Kodak na Semana da Crítica de Cannes. Em
2010, fotografou o
longa-metragem
“Trabalhar
Cansa”, de
Marco Dutra e Juliana Rojas, cuja estréia foi na Mostra Un
Certain Regard do Festival de Cannes 2011. Neste mesmo ano,
fotografou o longa-metragem "A Coleção
Invisível", de Bernard Attal.

Matheus
Rocha was born
in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil in 1979. He did his academic studies at the
Federal
University of Bahia, in the Production in Communication and Culture
degree. In
2001 he was admitted at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y
TV (EICTV)
of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, where he graduated in 2003 in
the specialty of
Cinematography. In 2004 he took part in the exchange program of Fachhochschule
Dortmund, German college that
has a film
degree
specialized only in Cinematography. In Germany he co-photographed the
feature
film "Fünf Zimmer" and participated as invited cinematographer
in
Talent Movie of the Week, program of the Talent
Campus of the
Berlin
Film
Festival, under director Walter Salles´
orientation. Since 2005 he
has lived in São Paulo, where he works as cinematographer.
In
2007 he photographed
the short film “Um Ramo”
(A Stem), that won the
Kodak Discovery Award in the
Critic’s Week of Cannes Film Festival. In 2010 did his solo-debut
as cinematographer of a
feature
film, “Hard Labor”,
by Marco Dutra and Juliana
Rojas, which had its premiere in Un Certain Regard of 2011 Cannes Film
Festival. Also in this year, photographed the feature film "A
Coleção Invisível", by Bernard Attal. |
